Jay Gatsby and John Proctor
I would describe Jay Gatsby from the book "The Great Gatsby" written by F. Scott Fitzgerald as a hopeless romantic. he loves a woman named Daisy so much that he is willing to go way out of his way for her love. Gatsby's one and only dream is to be with Daisy, but then two obstacles get in the way of it. the first, Gatsby goes to fight in World War 1 overseas and doesn't return for 5 years. When he returns he finds out that Daisy had gotten married and didn't wait for his return. Also Gatsby finds out ways of becoming wealthy to impress Daisy by selling bootlegged alcohol and owning drugstores. This ends up not being enough to gain Daisy's love in the end, and Gatsby dies Heart broken.
John Proctor from the book "The Crucible" written by Arthur Miller is an interesting character and plays an interesting role in the story. John makes the mistake of affiliating himself with Abigail Williams who turns out to be the most hated character of this story. John's wife was ill and he couldn't get attention from his wife so he slept with Abigail and ever since that happened she was obsessed with being with him. Johns dream is to just live the farm life and be happy with his family. this turns out very badly for John Proctor in the end. Proctor's first obstacle he faced was telling Abigail that they were no more. this turned into a whole revenge of John's response to be put upon his wife. The second obstacle he faced was trying to save his wife from being hanged. though proctors opinion of the matter didnt matter since he couldn't prove his wife's innocence, it turned out that she was pregnant and they werent gonna hang her right away anyway.
