My American Dream
Becoming a Navy Seal
My American Dream is to become a navy seal, and to serve in the U.S. military. In today’s society it could be difficult to become a Seal, although it’s going to be very strenuous to become one anyway. The training that Seal’s go through, are designed to break anybody. The training is the hardest and most gruesome training to be put upon anyone. Some of the societal things I am worried about are: not being able to see my family for awhile. Also breaking down myself constantly, just to build back up again. Reasons I think society could affect my dream is because of how the economy is and how our country is changing and is nowhere close to the way it used to be. Our country might be out of control by the time I want to become a Seal. So, this dream all depends on what route this country takes, and I hope that whatever happens that is for the benefit of all. Other obstacles I might face to become a Seal would be to be in tip top shape constantly before going into the Seal training called BUD’s (Basic Underwater Demolition/Seal). Becoming a Seal is much more than just trying to be tough and being the best of the best. My main reason for having a dream of being a Navy Seal is because not only do I want to help the world and keep things in order but I will become stronger mentally and physically, but it will build good character and make me more of a man by serving for our country.
More about me, I was born in Fort Collins, Colorado. I grew up about 10 minutes from the mountains, but you could see them from just about anywhere. I lived in Colorado for 10 years of my life, and for all those years I had family that wasn’t more than fifteen minutes away from my family and I. I have 3 other siblings, one brother and two sisters, later on we adopt a step sister. Growing up was really memorable and easy as a kid until we moved to North Carolina. When my parents got back from their NC trip we had a month till we were going to move. Going forward a month, when we got established in our new home everything was peachy keen until my father acted up on all five of us. He did wild and crazy things that my mom point out that I cannot comprehend happening ever cause it was too painful to remember. My dad was a dropout in high school but before we moved was making over 160,000 a year. Life was good and comfortable. my dad had several different jobs that he worked for throughout the years. But he had his own business called ClickDefense, that later failed and we got evicted from our big house. My little sister and I moved back to Colorado with my mom, and the older two stayed with my dad. But later on my mom went to NC and brought back the older two with her. This was before the house was taken from us. My dad came to Colorado and convinced my mom’s parents that he had changed and he would do better, so we moved back to North Carolina. My mom stayed behind cause she was so hurt by the things my dad did and how he cheated on her and became a sociopath. But cause my mom loved us so much she came back. Nothing got better from then on with our family. My mother and father later got divorced and me and my other siblings lived with my mom in wakefield. Later on my older siblings began living with my dad, because they could get away with a lot. My dad took my mom to court countless times and we had to come to the hearings sometimes as well. Most of these court dates were because of my dad not wanting to pay child support. He would pay off and on. Then my mom got a new boyfriend named Ed and he took us in when we lost our apartment and our experiences with him weren’t always the most pleasant either. Today my brother lives in Colorado he’s 19, my older sister lives in Brier Creek, she’s 20 and I live with my little sister Hannah, mom, and Ed who are now married and were about to move into a new house! My previous family was great until the blowout, and now it’s broken hearts trying to repair themselves. And my new family is just pressing on, fighting our way to get along and better understand one another.
I haven’t always wanted to become a Seal, it’s actually a more recent dream. My Great Grandfather served in World War 2 in Europe. He parachuted in after the battle of Normandy. My uncle was in Dessert Storm and my cousin was a sniper in the army. After I saw the movie Act of Valor, I felt compelled to want to become one. Not because of action and cause I think its cool, but because I feel it would be something that would help me as a man to become more than a man. I feel what my dad didn’t teach me that the Navy will.
